I think most of us ladies can admit that at some point or another we have pinned one too many dream engagement rings on our Pinterest boards. I know I did! Some hold to the tradition that the guy should pick out the ring without the help of his future wife…but forget that! I actually thought I wanted my hubby to pick out the ring without me, but he convinced me otherwise, and I’m so glad he did! It was an awesome experience going to the different jewelry shops and trying rings on with my favorite guy. He even keep the element of surprise in purchasing the ring by making up some story about how the ring got back ordered. He’s a smarty.
In the past two years most of my best friends have gotten married. It seems like it’s been back to weddings for a while now! I came to realize that each one of my friends had gorgeous rings that were all so unique from one another. They all have different features and details that fit each of our styles and personalities so perfectly.
First up is yours truly! I absolutely love my ring. When Sterling and I went ring shopping I had an idea of what I was looking for. When we found this ring, the moment I put it on my finger I had to catch my breath! That may sound so silly and girly, but I just knew it was my ring.
It has everything I was looking for all in one. The center diamond is princess cut with a halo of smaller diamonds surrounding it. I love how it is raised and the band has filigree (the swirly pretty stuff). From the side it actually looks like the eiffel tower! The band has the matching filigree and diamonds.
Next up is Nicole! Her ring is so beautiful. Funny story, we actually got married one month apart from each other and had many of the same bridesmaids. Needless to say, our friends had a very busy and exciting summer!
Nicole says, “What I love about my ring is that I have never seen another ring like it; the spilt band, the twisted ribbon of diamonds around the center stone, and the way it fits perfectly against my wedding band. Phil knows what I like!”
Lindsay’s ring is very special. My friends Lindsay and Autumn experienced the same thing the following summer and got married about a month apart as well! Lindsay was actually first given a family heirloom ring, but after having trouble preserving it, her man got her a new ring that reflected the same style and qualities that she loved so much about her heirloom. I will say, Lindsay’s ring extremely unique and not like any ring I’ve seen before. Instead of a diamond Lindsay wanted a pearl! I LOVE IT! It absolutely reflects her simple and yet elegant style and personality.
Lindsay says, “I love my ring because it’s really special. It’s a pearl which is my favorite stone. I love how it’s soft and sweet rather than shiny. The design is really old fashioned and vintage.”
Autumn’s ring is truly one of a kind because her hubby designed it himself! He worked with a jeweler to get the perfect ring for his lady. I had never seen a ring with the marquise shaped diamond before. I also love that the band is so skinny and dainty.
Autumn says, “I love my ring because Jonathan designed it! And it’s pretty…and sparkly!” Short and sweet!
My friend Theresa is engaged to be married this September! I was honored to be there when she got engaged. Her ring is absolutely stunning. I love how your eye is so drawn to the center diamond and then the bands accent it so elegantly.
Theresa says, “I love my ring because it’s very unique. From the top it looks very traditional, but form the sides it’s so special and different!”
Clearly, we all love our rings for their uniqueness and beauty. We look good in our bling I might add! There’s a few things I’ve realized after my own experiences and those of my friends. Below are some helpful tips!
Kendra’s Ring Tips:
1) Getting insurance for your ring is always a good idea! Since I bought my ring from Kay Jewelers, it came with the purchase of my ring. I just have to go in every 6 months to get it inspected and cleaned in order to keep the insurance. If I ever need to adjust the size I just go in and they send it away to get fixed right away. It helps me breathe easy knowing that I’m covered if anything were to happen to my ring.
2) I totally respect people who want their ring to be a complete surprise. I would just say, I am so glad that my husband and I looked together, for several reasons. First of all, there were rings that I was obsessed with that I found online, but when I tried them on in person I did not like they way they felt on my finger at all. Also, shopping for rings together gave Sterling and I the opportunity to communicate and talk about our future together. We were able to work through all the nerves, excitement, and questions together. Lastly, it took the pressure off my hubby to find “my perfect ring.” Rather than guessing and hoping that I liked what he picked out, he knew he would confident that I loved the ring!
3) Its really great to find a ring that has a matching wedding band. It just makes for a much easier process, rather than having to search for a band that fits well or spending more money on making a custom band.
Hopefully now you are inspired to think more about what you are looking for in your ring, or purchasing a ring if you’re a dude getting ready to search for his lady’s ring! Maybe you are reminded of all the reasons you love your ring? Either way, don’t forget that the ring is just a small part of the incredible journey of marriage that you’re about to endeavor. The marriage should be so much more beautiful than the ring, and the dream man is way better than a dream ring.
