Summertime for us is always jam-packed with learning experiences. In honor of this, over the next few weekends we’ll be posting our favorite quotes on our social media. We have several different quotes from authors, women in history, abolitionists, leaders in our lives, etc. Some are inspirational and motivational and others are more fun and romantic or silly. We hope you can be inspired as well! We’re always on the look out for a good quote, aren’t you? Come on… your next Instagram post needs one of these babies!
First up – our favorite inspirational quotes! Kendra’s favorite is by Louisa May Alcott (who is also one of our personal heroes, a Massachusetts native, author of our fav book, and abolitionist). Kendra says… I love the Louisa May Alcott quote because it really speaks to how life is so many times. Storms are inevitable. Yet it’s often the way we sail our ship that can change the course of our journey and even change our destination. Everyday I’m still learning new things about myself, others, and life itself. It’s a process and I don’t think we ever really stop learning. Storms are just opportunities to learn more about our ships.
Kim’s favorite is by Kaci Diane, who we think is another blogger. Kim writes… this quote really spoke to me because I can so thoroughly relate in two specific ways. One, growing up I was taught confidence in who God created me to be – flaws and all. This is a good thing for the most part. I never dealt with severe insecurity and always had the boldness to step out in faith or stand up for the underdog. However, I was probably not always the most gentle or humble. I was passionate but I lacked diplomacy and timing. This is an issue I did not realize I had until I grew older and then eventually got married. Fun stuff. Over the last ten years – my entire adult life – I’ve been working on myself and letting God refine all my rough edges. Giving “me” and “my rights” over to my Master. It’s been a difficult yet beautiful process. Even though I’m not perfect, I’m very proud of who I am and who I’m becoming. I’ve put in a lot of hard work to get where I am today both in my character and in my call. The second way I relate to this quote is thinking about all the people who think I can’t do [fill in the blank] – the haters! They’re out there, and some are closer and more vocal than I’d like. Even some of my family members can’t quite understand some of my choices or appreciate the honest candor that has become a Kim staple. Haters gunna hate! I’ve heard it all too… “She didn’t finish college”, “well she is a woman after all”, “she’s married to a pastor so she isn’t one”, etc. So say what you want about me, I’m proud of who I am! I know WHO I am – I am a child of the King! As long as I’m living my life pleasing to my Heavenly Father and allow God and those mentors He’s placed in my life to keep me accountable – I know I’m doing good.
